1: 30 Minutes of Movement
Every day, no matter what I schedule at least 30 minutes of movement minimum. Many days I try to get at least 60 in, but if I am having a super busy day I make sure 30 minutes happens no matter what. The 30 minutes could be spent dancing, doing yoga, a workout video, yoga, talking the kids for a walk or anything else that gets my body moving. This increases energy, helps de-stress and is an important habit for my overall health.
2: Drink Half of My Body Weight in Water
Several years ago all I would drink would be sugar-filled soda. It left me feeling tired, sluggish, dehydrated and not very good. A few years ago I made it a habit to drink at least half my body weight in ounces of water a day. Our bodies can feel exhausted when we are dehydrated. It also does a number on our hair, skin and nails as well. Give your body a hand flushing toxins from your body, boost your energy and digestion by making sure you are getting enough water.
3: At Least 10 Minutes of Meditation
10 minutes of stillness. Turning off any technology, getting mindful and turning off my thoughts. This daily meditation practice keeps me energized, grounded, peaceful and makes me a happier person. When we devote 10 minutes a day to mindfulness it helps us release the tension of the day. If you aren’t ready to completely be still try taking 10 minutes to enjoying and being mindful in something you love, like drinking tea. For those 10 minutes while you drink your tea turn off your phone, computer and television. Be in the moment with each sip. Look at the color of the tea and feel the warmth of the cup in your hand. Notice your body and how it feels in the chair. Can you hear any noises? Just observe, try not to let your thoughts wander.
