Eclectic Zen creates some of the most gorgeous terrariums I have ever seen. If you haven’t entered our giveaway you can do that HERE. I was sent this gorgeous Zen Marimo Terrarium with live Japanese moss balls, sea glass and river stones to review. This is the first time I have ever had a terrarium and Japanese moss balls. I was very excited to do see what all of the fuss was about. I can honestly say these things are so much fun. Watching the Marimos is a wonderful way to de-stress. They are also super easy to care for. All you have to do is rinse the Marimos under the faucet every few days and change the water- simple!
If this is the first time you have ever heard about Japanese Moss balls this is what they look like.
They are soft, and made from water currents. This is some information right from Eclectic Zen about Marimos. The Marimo moss ball is not only beautiful to look at but it’s popularity has captured the hearts of Americans all over as it is quickly becoming the newest and easiest pet to care for! Known as Japan’s national treasure this beauty intrigues and mystifies many. Discovered in Lake Akan, Japan in the early 1920’s it is known to grow very slowly and can live for over 100 years, so if you take care of your moss ball it can be a family heirloom passed down from generation to generation and grow to be 10 to 12 inches. Mari means BALL in Japanese and MO means algae- Ball of algae. There is also a beautifully tragic legend of two lovers falling in love and wanting to be together. Upon swimming in Lake Akan, both lovers drowned and it is said that their hearts became the Marimo moss balls. It is also considered incredibly good luck to own a Marimo moss ball.
I loved putting my terrarium together. When you receive your box from Eclectic Zen you will get detailed instructions on how to set up your terrarium along with a picture. These terrariums are so much fun you can really set them up however you would like. The instructions where easy to understand. It was also easy to get the terrarium to look just like the picture on Etsy!
This is a mixture of the sea glass and river stones. There are a lot of beautiful colored stones and sea glass. It really adds a lot to the terrarium.
The terrarium that I reviewed had coral in the back, this looks so amazing in the terrarium.
This is the tree to put on top.
This is the terrarium all put together. I think I should have added some more water now that I am looking at the pictures. I decided to lay my coral sideways. I really enjoyed making this terrarium my own.
Those are a few pictures of the Marimos.
Overall I am very pleased with the terrarium. The items are very high-quality. You receive a lot of different types of stones and rocks depending on the terrarium you choose. The Japanese moss balls are easy to take care of and really add a lot to the terrariums.
Krissy, the owner of Eclectic Zen also sent me this fun little surprise. There is a tiny little Marimo in the bottle. I LOVE this! This is a perfect good luck charm.
