Krissy is the owner of Eclectic Zen. She creates one of a kind terrariums. Krissy also creates custom terrariums. She includes gem stones and sea shells along with Japanese moss balls. The Marimo moss ball is not only beautiful to look at but it’s popularity has captured the hearts of Americans all over as it is quickly becoming the newest and easiest pet to care for! Known as Japan’s national treasure this beauty intrigues and mystifies many. Discovered in Lake Akan Japan in the early 1920’s it is known to grow very slowly and can live for over 100 years, so if you take care of your moss ball it can be a family heirloom passed down from generation to generation and grow to be 10 to 12 inches. Mari means BALL in Japanese and MO means algae- Ball of algae. There is also a beautifully tragic legend of two lovers falling in love and wanting to be together. Upon swimming in Lake Akan, both lovers drowned and it is said that their hearts became the marimo moss balls. It is also considered incredibly good luck to own a marimo moss ball.
The Japanese Moss balls float around the terrarium and create a very zen experience. These terrariums would make a wonderful gift as well as the perfect decoration in any room. I will be reviewing one shortly, so check back often. Until then Krissy was nice enough to offer one for a giveaway.
